This is a junction box for the wires from lots of 100W thin film panels with protected negative blocks and diodes in each of the positive leads. The panels give 300V to over 400V at a current of around 0.3 amp. Conventional 4mm wiring and MC4 connectors are overkill for these panels.

What's so great about crystalline? More power that's what! lol This is a test I have been wanting to try for a long time. And I only had a brief chance to do it before these two 120 watt monocrystilline panels are to be installed. The theory being: Although amorphous (thin film) panels DO perform better under low light for a given WATTAGE, if we instead compare a mono vs a thin film of approximately the same SIZE we will find that the mono does just as well. Or will we? ;)
This system automates three process steps: 1) flattening the foil substrate, 2) flash testing the cell, and 3) sorting into multiple bins. The solar cells are printed on a rolled foil that retains a slight curvature which must be flattened in both directions. After flattening, the cells are flash tested with a sun simulator on-the-fly. Finally, based on the sun tests and other physical cell properties, reject cells are identified and separated.
